Restore Your Smile at Wave Dental Specialists

Tooth loss effects millions of adults and can occur at any time due to tooth decay, injury or periodontal disease. However, the loss of one or more teeth does not have to keep you from smiling. Dental implants are replacement tooth roots. They are surgically implanted in your jawbone to provide a stable foundation for fixed (permanent) or removable artificial teeth.

Are you ready to restore your smile? Here’s how our experts can help:

Step 1: Planning

The first step is talking to your dentist. Our experts will coordinate with your dentist to design an individualized treatment plan to meet your unique needs and goals. Depending on your condition, you may require single tooth implants (which can attach a dental crown or bridge) or All-on-4 implants to anchor an implant-retained denture.

Step 2: Surgery

Once your treatment plan is finalized, your surgery will be scheduled. This is a simple procedure, wherein one or more small titanium posts are inserted under the gum line and placed into the socket of your missing teeth. As your jawbone heals, the titanium will fuse with the implant post and bond with it. The healing process can take 6-12 weeks.

Frequently asked questions

Am I a candidate for dental implants?

Patients who are in good overall health and have enough healthy gum tissue and jawbone are  ideal candidates for dental implants. You must have enough bone to hold the implant in place, otherwise the surgery will not be successful. Only a trained dental team can determine if you are a candidate for oral surgery, so be sure to book a consultation to discuss your options.

Do implants hurt?

Getting an implant includes 1-2 surgical procedures, depending if you need to have a tooth removed prior to receiving an implant. The oral surgery component is quite comfortable, as you will receive local anesthesia and sedation as needed. It is natural to experience some pain, swelling, and bleeding following your surgery, as with any surgical procedure. However, our team will provide you with post-operative care instructions and prescribed pain relievers as needed to minimize discomfort.

What are implants made out of?

Dental implants are made out of biocompatible titanium. This means that the material used in the implant post bonds with the surrounding jawbone.

How long does it take to get an implant?

The process of getting a dental implant includes multiple visits to one or more dental offices, from planning and surgery to healing and implant restoration. Healing after your surgery can take anywhere from 6-12 months, depending on your unique dental health condition and treatment needs. Only your dedicated implant team can give you an estimation of your overall expected treatment timeframe.

Are dental implants covered by insurance?

It depends on your insurance carrier. Some plans do cover a portion of your dental implant treatment costs. Our team will verify your insurance and help you maximize all owed benefits whenever we can. Out-of-pocket costs can be paid over time with our dental financing options.

How long do implants last?

Dental implants require the same care as your natural teeth. This includes brushing, flossing, and regular dental checkups and cleanings. With good at-home care and oral hygiene, an implant can keep you smiling for 20 years or more.
